Living Amends was born out of the need to continue to invest in a client’s long-term sobriety financially. To learn whether you’re a candidate for our scholarship program or to speak with one of our experts, please contact Living Amends today or apply for our scholarship.

The Importance of Our Scholarship Program

At Living Amends, we understand lack of finances is the main reason most clients do not follow through with a sober living environment. By this time, insurance has run out, and families are exhausted. Living Amends seeks to be the hand up not a hand out. We seek a true partnership with our recipients. Go here to begin the process to  secure a scholarship to a sober living community.

Our goal is to establish a relationship with high accountability and supportive sober living homes, allowing us to invest in a client’s success. We asked for weekly progress reports and are ready to intervene if we see a problem.

About Our Scholarship Program

Living Amends understands the system is not perfect, and more clients will relapse than stay sober after residential treatment. Still, we want to support those who beat the odds and are serious about their sobriety. The monthly maximum Living Amends can award any one house is $1,000. We do not give more than one scholarship to each vetted house. We will send an email outlying the expectations once you receive an award.

The Application Process

1. First Month

During the first month, the applicant must fill out our form online and interview with one of our staff members.

2. Second Month

During the second month, the applicant must reapply with a detailed essay about how the grant has impacted their sobriety.

3. Third Month

During the third month, the applicant must submit a written essay on progress describing where they are socially and emotionally in comparison to where they were when they first received the scholarship. This essay will mark the progress of the applicant.

What Happens If You Are Awarded the Scholarship?

Once we award the scholarship, the recipient must agree to all terms sent by email.  Once all terms are agreed too, we will transfer the funds directly to the sober living facility. If the applicant receives a scholarship, we ask their sober living community to provide a weekly report on their progress.

This report will help Living Amends continue to follow the beneficiary. At this time, we are not able to give scholarships to sober living communities we are not familiar with. We work with a range of facilities, including:

How Much Does the Living Amends Scholarship Pay?

The goal is for each recipient to have a stake in their sobriety. Therefore we never give 100% scholarship and steadily decrease the amount over time.

During the first month, we pay 75% of the cost of sober living. We’ll pay 50% of the cost during the second month, and during their third month, we pay 25%. In addition, we will be asking our recipients to pay it forward by returning 25% of the scholarship to Living Amends within 12 months.
