Even after getting treatment, many people find themselves turning to drugs or alcohol because they don’t know how to live a sober lifestyle. However, from this problem came Living Amends. This scholarship program gives those in recovery the opportunity to fund their first three months in a sober living community. To learn whether you’re a candidate for our scholarship, please contact our team today.

The Importance of Sober Living Outside of Treatment

Outside of the insulated environment that an inpatient addiction treatment community provides, it becomes more challenging to remain sober. Experts suggest that your environment plays a significant role in a person’s ability to remain sober. Stress cues from their experience using drugs and alcohol are often common triggers for relapse. These triggers may include:

  • Moods
  • Exposure to drugs or alcohol
  • People
  • Places
  • Things

A sober living community can allow you to return to a semi-normal life, but at the same time, the environment it provides gives you the accountability you need to remain sober.

At Living Amends, we recognize the need for sober living in the recovery process. As a result, we’ve developed our scholarship for those seeking a way to pay for this method of on-going treatment. Through donations and contributions from people who are also in recovery, we can encourage you to live a sober lifestyle.

Living Amends is committed to helping people in the Austin, TX area stay sober for more extended periods of time. However, we do not pay for anyone’s entire stay in their sober living community because we also recognize each person’s need to have stakes in the process. It proves that they are committed to the recovery process.

What Makes Our Scholarship Different?

Unlike other sober living scholarships, your future is in your hands. We don’t pay the full amount for your stay in the sober living facility. We require recipients to pay 25% of the first month’s rent at their sober living facility. In the second month, if they reapply and successfully are awarded the second month’s rent, the resident will pay 50% of the rent. In the third month, they must reapply again. If they receive that scholarship, they’ll pay 75% of that month’s rent. We believe that having the recipient help pay the bills empowers them and gives them a stake in their sobriety.
